The Garden is a living landscape in the heart of The Rocks, Sydney designed in collaboration with acclaimed Australian landscape designer Paul Bangay. Set alongside the historic Argyle Stores, The Garden responds to one of Sydneyβs oldest precincts with a contemporary yet respectful approach – where structure, symmetry and layered greenery sit in quiet dialogue with stone walls and heritage architecture.
At its centre is a planting design that evolves throughout the year. Seasonal varieties shift in colour, texture and form, while evergreen structure provides continuity and balance. The result is a garden that never feels static. It’s among Paul Bangay’s public gardens in Sydney, designed to welcome extended visits. Each visit offers something subtly different – new growth, changing light, fresh movement through foliage, creating a sense of destination within a landscape that is alive and unfolding.
Deeply connected to The Rocks and its community, The Garden is designed as a place of gathering and pause for visitors and locals alike. Open from morning through to evening, it moves gently with the rhythm of the day, settling into a calm, atmospheric setting beneath the greenery, particularly during Happy Hour as the precinct transitions into night. More than a venue, it is a considered landscape shaped by history, seasonality and renewal – a space to return to, to experience, and to feel part of The Rocksβ evolving story.
